Understanding Testing Frequency Requirements
The testing frequency for devices and equipment varies depending on factors such as usage patterns, environmental conditions, and the equipment's location. It can range from as frequent as every month to as infrequent as every five years.
Environment-Based Testing Schedules
The testing frequency is not fixed for a particular location but rather tailored to the specific environment in which the equipment operates. In some cases, multiple environments may be involved, influencing the testing schedule. The technicians at CaliPro Solutions are well-equipped to determine the appropriate and necessary testing frequency following thorough inspections.
New Equipment and Compliance Requirements
When new equipment is acquired in Australia, the initial responsibility for ensuring its electrical safety lies with the supplier. Therefore, there is no immediate need for testing. However, a visual inspection is still conducted to check for any visible defects or damage. If the equipment passes the inspection and complies with AS/NZS 37602022, the responsibility for its safety is then transferred to the owner, who must ensure it is appropriately tagged.
Required Testing and Inspection Procedures
We will conduct the following processes and inspections as required:
External Inspection of Equipment
External inspection of equipment involves a thorough examination for any potential issues that may affect its performance and safety. This inspection includes checking for damage, defects, wear, or unauthorised modifications to the equipment. Additionally, special attention is given to inspecting plugs/connectors for signs of discolouration or wear, which could indicate excessive heat, loose electrical connections, or exposure to chemicals or moisture. Electrical Testing and Tagging.
Protective Earth Continuity Test
To ensure the equipment's electrical safety, a Protective Earth Continuity Test is conducted. This test measures the resistance to verify that it is low enough for proper equipment operation, ensuring that the grounding connection is effective.
Insulation Testing
The Insulation Test is another essential step, assessing the leakage current insulation resistance of the device. This test helps identify potential risks of electrical leakage, ensuring that the equipment is adequately isolated from live electrical components.
Polarity and Wiring Verification
Another critical aspect of inspection is verifying the correct wiring of the equipment. It is not uncommon to find cases where the neutral and live conductors are reversed, which can pose serious safety hazards. Ensuring the polarity is correctly wired is vital to prevent electric shocks and other electrical issues.
Testing and Calibration for Essential Equipment
Our calibration services help verify instrument accuracy and support consistent performance in demanding environments.
